Great Public Spaces In Lambeth

Lambeth Labour is investing in places people love – renovating our libraries and leisure centres, investing in parks, planting thousands of trees and keeping our streets clean.

What We Have Delivered

Parks And Green Spaces

Lambeth’s parks are among the best in London. 26 parks and green spaces meet the national Green Flag Award standard, reflecting strong maintenance, accessible facilities and community involvement (Source: Lambeth Council – Parks). We have supported local Friends groups, refreshed play equipment in priority parks and improved paths, lighting and planting where it matters most (Source: Lambeth Council – Parks).

At Ruskin Park, Lambeth secured community-backed funding to upgrade paths, play equipment and planting in 2025, with residents involved at every stage from design to delivery (Source: Lambeth Labour – Ruskin Park Investment). Similar programmes are planned for other priority parks across the borough.

Libraries

Lambeth’s 10 public libraries remain open and invested. The council has protected library services, committed new funding for buildings and collections and ensured digital access terminals are available in every branch (Source: Lambeth Council – Libraries). Libraries also serve as warm, welcoming community hubs for learning, job searching and social connection.

Cleaner Streets

Lambeth Labour introduced a Clean Street Guarantee with clear standards for how quickly streets are swept, litter removed and fly-tips cleared (Source: Lambeth Labour – Clean Street Guarantee). A targeted enforcement operation cleared a notorious fly-tipping site in Herne Hill and Loughborough Junction in April 2025, with repeat offenders prosecuted (Source: Lambeth Labour – Herne Hill and Loughborough Junction Cleanup).

Our Priorities Going Forward

– Maintain and grow Lambeth’s Green Flag Award parks, adding new spaces and securing community input into improvement programmes.

– Continue targeted investment in libraries as community hubs, with better study spaces, digital access and programming for all ages.

– Expand the Clean Street Guarantee with stronger enforcement, more rapid response and clear accountability to residents.

– Plant thousands more trees in streets, parks and estates to improve air quality, reduce heat and create a greener borough for future generations.

We want Lambeth to be a place where everyone can enjoy high-quality public spaces, from well-kept parks and open libraries to clean and welcoming streets in every neighbourhood.
