Cleaning up a notorious fly-tipping spot in Herne Hill and Loughborough Junction

Stephen Clark, Labour’s Candidate for the Herne Hill and Loughborough Junction by-election and local councillor Deepak Sardiwal cleaned up a notorious fly-tipping hotspot in Loughborough Junction recently, taking action after local residents raised the issue with them.

The spot on Carew Street, next to Thorlands Estate was known to residents as an overgrown patch that was frequently fly-tipped. One of Stephen’s priorities (full list below) if he is elected in the by-election on May 1 is to promote clean and healthy streets, whether through rewilding, delivering on the council’s priority to plant 5,000 trees by 2026, or by personally cleaning up hotspots, working with residents in the process.

Do you have a spot near you that needs reporting? You can report it to Stephen on [email protected] – and vote Labour on May 1 to ensure you have a local community champion who will deliver for residents.

Stephen’s priorities for our area:

  1. Investing in our community – Ensuring places like Carnegie Library and Brockwell Hall are protected for future generations.
  2. Promoting clean and healthy streets – Planting trees, rewilding our roadsides, reducing air pollution and cracking down on fly-tipping.
  3. Preventing crime and antisocial behaviour – Better partnership with local police and calling for more police officers in our area.
  4. Upgrading Loughborough Junction Station – Pressure Network Rail to install lifts in the station so everyone has access.
  5. Improving road safety – Redesigning our streets to improve road safety and making it safer to walk and cycle.
