We are building safer communities in every part of our borough. Lambeth Labour is tackling crime and the causes of it with more police officers on our streets, stronger action on anti-social behaviour and better support for people with drug addictions.

What We Have Delivered And How This Keeps You Safe

More Police On The Streets

The 28 additional officers in Brixton means a visible, consistent police presence in one of Lambeth’s busiest areas. Officers focus on neighbourhood patrols, transport safety and late-night hotspots, responding to what residents told us they wanted most (Source: Lambeth Labour).

Tackling Nuisance And Anti-Social Behaviour

The crackdown on dangerous e-bikes involved joint police and council operations across Lambeth, resulting in bike seizures, fines and prosecutions. This directly addresses one of the most reported concerns from residents about safety in parks, streets and estates (Source: Lambeth Labour).

Public Spaces Protection Orders and closure notices give council and police the powers to act quickly when anti-social behaviour disrupts communities. We use them proportionately, targeting genuine harm and not ordinary community life (Source: GOV.UK).

Preventing Violence Before It Happens

Lambeth backs the Violence Reduction Unit and its public health model because it works. By investing in diversion, mentoring and pathways to employment, we reduce the number of young people who become victims or perpetrators of serious violence (Source: London Violence Reduction Unit).

Our Priorities Going Forward

– Continue securing more neighbourhood police officers in areas where residents feel unsafe, working with the Met to target resources where they are needed most.

– Maintain tough enforcement on e-bikes, dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour while pairing enforcement with support for those who can change.

– Expand violence prevention investment, particularly for young people at risk, through diversion programmes and community-led initiatives.

– Strengthen community policing relationships so residents feel confident reporting crime and know that action will follow.

Lambeth Labour will keep working to make every street, estate and public space safer for every resident, with enforcement that is swift and fair and prevention that is lasting and meaningful.
