Tina Valcarcel

Tina has been a Councillor since 2006. She has worked collaboratively with different Ward Colleagues and officers, over the years to support the residents with casework and various developments in the Ward.

Amongst them were the introduction of an on-site Housing Estate Neighbourhood Officer accessible to Councillors and residents. A 5mph speed limit has been introduced and green spaces created through Urban Growth to improve the visual landscape of the area. During the pandemic, she worked with Faith Groups, community leaders, ward councillors and social media to promote the importance of taking the vaccine especially for disabled people andBAME communities. The introduction of waste disposal instructions has educated residents about how to dispose their waste sensibly. As deputy cabinet member for disabilities, she has worked closely with officers in the council to introduce SignLive to support our deaf community in Lambeth to access services easily.

Mahamed Hashi

Hashi has lived in Stockwell for over 30 years, and a councillor since 2018. He has worked hard to help our most vulnerable residents secure housing of a good standard. He has also been a youth and community worker for over 20 years setting up numerous community projects including the Brixton soup kitchen and New Beginnings which carried out gang intervention programmes on several estates in Stockwell. He has worked closely with the police and local residents. He has challenged anti-social behaviour in Stockwell as a former secretary of the Safer Neighbourhood Panel, including as Chair of Lambeth Stop and Search monitoring group.
