The motion passed by the Green Party classifying Zionism as Racism will only divide our local communities, when we should be working to bring people closer together.
It also does nothing to help deliver peace, justice and statehood for Palestinians, which is what we all want to see and can only be delivered by working towards a two-state solution.”
“Branding the majority of British Jews, the synagogues they attend and Jewish organisations in the UK as racist will only increase hostility and hatred towards them when they are already increasingly under attack.
The conflicts in the Middle East have directly led to an increase in both antisemitism and Islamophobia in the UK. No responsible political party would fan those flames instead of trying to put them out.”
Zack Polanski neither spoke against this motion or voted to try and stop it.
This is a failure of leadership of which he should be ashamed. We call on him and the Lambeth Green Party to do the right thing, condemn this divisive motion and build bridges rather than walls between the communities that we serve.
