A brand-new post office has been secured in Clapham after a long and hard-fought campaign by local Clapham Labour councillors, residents and community partners.
The new post office officially opened its doors on Thursday 17th April, at 82-84 Clapham Park Road, SW4 7BX, bringing essential services back to the heart of the community.
When the Clapham High Street Post Office announced its plans to close last year, it left thousands of residents — including older and vulnerable people — without nearby access to vital services such as benefit collection, face-to-face banking, and trusted local advice.
Local Clapham Labour councillors joined forces with residents, community groups and the Communication Workers Union, campaigning week after week to try and reverse the closure. This included standing outside the post office every Saturday from November – March, organising community meetings, marches, and delivering a 2,000-signature petition to both 10 Downing Street and Post Office Headquarters.
This wasn’t just about saving a building—it was about protecting frontline services that residents depend on, delivered by staff who know and understand our community.

Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Sunday: Closed
