Lambeth Green Party try to block nearly 1,000 affordable and social homes for local families

175 of the 955 affordable homes Lambeth Greens have voted against

During this election campaign, Lambeth Labour is highlighting our commitment to building the new social and genuinely affordable homes our residents desperately need and contrasting this with the appalling track record the Lambeth Greens have of trying to block these homes. Unsurprisingly, they do not like their record being scrutinised in this way.

They don’t want us to publicise the fact that they have voted against almost 1,000 new social and affordable homes in Lambeth and they have attacked us for exposing this. But this is a matter of public record, from votes of Lambeth’s Planning Applications Committee.

The Lambeth Greens should explain why they have consistently opposed new council, social and affordable homes at sites such as Roman Rise, 49 Brixton Station Road and Leigham Court Road, to name just a few. And they should confirm what number of affordable homes do they consider it acceptable to have opposed, when Lambeth residents are in desperate need of these new homes?

While the Lambeth Greens continue to attempt to justify blocking new homes, in Lambeth Labour we remain committed to tackling the housing crisis and getting these homes built. That’s the choice that residents will have on 7th May.
