Over the last four years, your Labour council has delivered on the promises that we made to you in 2018. In ‘100 Achievements of Labour in Lambeth Since 2018’, you can read about how we have delivered on our commitments to improve conditions for private renters, invest in young people, reduce air pollution and tackle the climate crisis, create apprenticeships, build new council homes and much more.
It has not been easy for councils like Lambeth and the communities we serve over recent years. More than a decade of devastating Conservative government cuts to our budgets means that we have had to deliver more with less. Despite this lack of funding and continued uncertainty for the future from government, your Labour council has continued to innovate to deliver the vital services you rely on and look out for the most vulnerable.
The last two years have also created new challenges for the council and the communities we serve. We stepped up to the plate and did whatever it took to make sure nobody was left behind by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Despite these challenges, we have listened to and worked with our diverse communities here in Lambeth to understand your priorities and we have found innovative ways to make every pound stretch further, build new partnerships, and harness the wealth of talent and passion in Lambeth to deliver what you need.
This is a record we are proud to stand on. As we now, hopefully, emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, we commit ourselves to building a recovery in Lambeth which leaves nobody behind. Together we can create a better, fairer Lambeth.
