Lambeth labour has announced its full slate of candidates for the borough’s local elections on Thursday 5th May 2022, and it’s our most diverse set of candidates ever.
Labour is standing 63 candidates across all 25 of the new wards in Lambeth. Of our 63 candidates, almost half are women (49%) and over 40% are candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds. Candidates standing for the first time include local community activists, small business owners, charity workers and campaigners with a wealth of experience and knowledge about the issues that Lambeth residents care about.
This is our most diverse set of candidates ever in Lambeth, showing our commitment to truly reflecting the diverse communities which make Lambeth the incredible place it is.
In 2018, Lambeth Labour won seats in all but one ward in Lambeth. This year they are campaigning to ensure every resident in Lambeth is represented by Labour councillors who are on their side and will deliver on their priorities.
Cllr Claire Holland, Leader of Lambeth Labour Group, said:
“Lambeth’s diversity is its greatest strength – which is why I am proud that Labour is fielding our most diverse set of candidates ever for the local elections on Thursday 5th May. Lambeth Council must be led by people who are rooted in our communities and representative of them – and that is exactly what Lambeth Labour is offering.
“From experienced councillors who have been working hard on behalf of their residents for years, to new candidates who got involved in politics through local community groups – our candidates know the challenges facing Lambeth residents. Whether it is helping to alleviate the impacts of the Conservative cost-of-living crisis, or working for a cleaner, safer, and fairer borough for all, Lambeth Labour will always be on your side.
“We are standing in every corner of Lambeth, and we plan to win in every corner of Lambeth too – because we know that Labour councillors are the only ones who will deliver on what our residents need.”
