YOUR TEAM FOR Knight's Hill

Cllr Ibtisam Adem

Ibtisam is a Knight’s Hill resident and youth worker. She worked at The Old Library Youth Centre for 12 years supporting disadvantaged young people to succeed in their education and access paid work. Ibtisam came to the UK as a refugee and had a key role in Lambeth becoming an accredited Borough of Sanctuary. As a Financial Resilience Champion, Ibtisam works with local partners and the council to ensure vulnerable members of our community have access to free legal advice and cost of living support.

Cllr Jackie Meldrum

Many residents have benefitted from Jackie’s experience of getting things done and determination to make a difference. Jackie helps many families with their housing problems and wants to see more social housing at council rents. She also knows many older people prefer face-to-face services. Jackie strongly supports West Norwood’s unique and busy town centre with its wide variety of services from an auction house to a tattoo parlour, leisure centre to bus garage. She regularly raises the need for good quality pavements and crossings and wants to see improvements to Leigham Court Rd and an end to repeated Thames Water roadworks.

Cllr Emma Nye

Emma is passionate about improving the state of our local streets and tackling fly tipping. She is pleased to see the improvements in controlling hired e-bikes and e-scooters. Emma is co-chair of Norwood’s Cemetery Committee and, following the new gate to Hubbard Road, is looking forward to another new pedestrian gate in Robson Road! As a school governor Emma is aware of the challenges to school budgets, of falling school rolls and the increasing number of children with special educational needs.
