YOUR TEAM FOR Clapham Park

Cllr Verity McGivern

Verity works in the charity sector campaigning for human rights and humanitarian relief around the world. She speaks French and is learning Spanish to be able to better support our growing Spanish-speaking Latin American community in Clapham Park. Verity is passionate about housing, access to nature and facilities for young people. She led the campaign to get the pitch in Agnes Riley Gardens reopened and can often be found helping out in the nature pond. As a local Clapham resident, she wants to champion residents’ voices in the regeneration project and bring better facilities to our area. She’ll campaign for better transport connections, new shops and cafés, welcoming green spaces and opportunities for young people.

Louie Somerville-Sutherland

Louie grew up in Brixton Hill and is proud to still call the area home. Of mixed Irish and Black Caribbean heritage, Louie values the diversity and strong community spirit that make Lambeth special. Louie lives in Metropolitan Thames Valley social housing and understands first-hand the issues many residents face, from housing repairs to the rising cost of living. Louie works supporting children with special educational needs, helping young people and families overcome challenges. As a Labour and Co-operative Party candidate, Louie wants to give back to the community that raised him and work with residents to improve housing, safer streets and opportunities for local families.

Cllr Martin Tiedemann

Martin is a leaseholder living on New Park Road and grew up in South London. He is from a Latin American family and is a fluent Spanish speaker. Martin is a trustee of a local migrants’ advocacy and support charity, and he is passionate about nature and ensuring everyone has access to green space. He has worked in the co-operative sector and is a member of the Co-operative Party, and wants to see a bigger role for co-ops and credit unions in Lambeth.
