Delivering New Homes in Gipsy Hill

On Wednesday, we visited Roman Rise in Gipsy Hill, a new Lambeth Council housing development providing 100% social housing for over 115 residents.

These high-quality, sustainable homes include air source heat pumps and solar panels to cut energy bills and deliver on our climate ambitions, plus secure cycle storage to encourage sustainable travel.

It was incredibly moving for those present to hear residents talk about how much these homes are improving their lives, from more space to better quality living, and the positive impact on their families.

Lambeth Labour understands the scale and urgency of the housing crisis, fuelled by 14 years of neglect and economic vandalism under the previous Tory and Liberal Democrat governments. Housing costs remain the single biggest driver of poverty in London, and yet, the Green Party continue to oppose developments like Roman Rise across the borough.

We stand on the side of residents, on the side of the vulnerable, on the side of those in temporary accommodation. And we must do all we can to continue to deliver for them.

Roman Rise also created 14 new job starts for Lambeth residents, alongside work experience and apprenticeships, because this is about more than just homes. It’s about growth and opportunity for all of our communities.

Rather than shouting from the sidelines, Lambeth Labour is delivering new homes, pushing for our borough’s fair share from the government, and fighting to ensure everyone has a safe, secure, and affordable place to call home, as set out in our borough plan.
