The Post Office has announced plans to "merge" Stockwell and Ferndale Post Offices.
In practice this means that Stockwell will be closed and Ferndale will move to a new site 40 metres away from the current branch - at 242 Ferndale Road.
Stockwell councillors Alex Bigham, Imogen Walker and Guilherme Rosa are leading the campaign against the closure. They have launched a community petition, which you can sign here.
Lambeth Labour councillors called an urgent meeting with Post Office managers to urge them to reconsider the proposals and they will be going door to door with the petition in the coming weeks.
Concerns have been raised that if the closure goes ahead Ferndale Road - which is already one of the busies Post Offices in London - will not be able to cope with demand. Long queues are already common and the new site will have even fewer counters - down from 13 to 8.
If the Stockwell branch is forced to close, local councillors want to see the Post Office come up with a better plan for post office provision for residents in Stockwell.
The consultation ends on 15 July. Residents are being urged to have their say by completing the consultation at: www.postofficeviews.co.uk
