Oval and Vauxhall need councillors that will speak up and fight for local people and the investment we need to make our area a better place.
In Oval Labour is delivering new affordable homes and resurfacing several miles of broken roads and pavement. We led the campaign to save Kennignton Park Post Office from closure, and when the Lib Dems in Government cut our funding by 50%, putting our libraries under threat, we made sure they were protected.
Because many local families have struggled with the rising cost of living Oval Labour councillors have voted to freeze Lambeth’s council tax for six years in a row – saving the average Oval family over £200.
Everybody knows that Nick Clegg’s Lib Dems are the party of u-turns and broken promises. They trebled tuition fees, introduced the hated bedroom tax and cut taxes for millionaires.
The Lib Dems have scrapped the affordable housing subsidy which helps fund social housing in new developments – then hypocritically attacked Labour for not delivering social housing! They have also introduced a new ‘viability test’ to the National Planning Policy Framework, which prioritises the profit margins of developers and landowners over the housing needs of local people.
When they ran Lambeth council they did nothing to improve Oval then had the nerve to put up council tax by 40%.
Here in Oval the election on 22 May will be a straight fight – the winners will either be Labour’s local champions or the Tory-Lib Dem coalition. If you care about the future of our area, please give us your support.
