Lib Dems won't tackle cost of living crisis

The Lib Dems have done nothing to help Lambeth residents with the rising cost of living.

On their watch wages have not kept up with prices, energy bills are up £300 per year and in London childcare costs are 19% higher. By slashing affordable housing funding, they’ve done nothing to tackle sky high rents and house prices, making it more difficult than ever for local people to get a foot on the property ladder.

And while they’re heartless nationally, they’re also hopeless locally.

When the Lib Dems ran the council they put council tax up by 40%. Then they paid a staggering £26m to buy Phoenix House at the height of the property boom.

Lambeth Labour on the other hand has made helping residents with the cost of living a priority. We’ve frozen council tax for six years in a row - saving each household £200, ensured all council staff receive at least the London Living Wage and kept rent rises for council homes as low as possible. We've also supported Labour's commitment to freeze gas and electricity bills and extend free childcare to provide real support to ordinary families.
