A look back on 2013

As 2013 draws to a close, the season of festive top 10s is upon us.


Here’s our own list – Lambeth Labour’s top 10 achievements of 2013. In no particular order:

• Brand new state of the art Streatham ice and leisure centre opens
• Clapham Fire Station and Gipsy Hill Police Station saved from closure
• Council Tax frozen again
• 1,705 homes fitted with new kitchens and bathrooms
• More Lambeth pupils than ever before achieve 5 good GCSEs
• Office downsizing plan delivers savings of £4.5m per year
• Unique schemes gives residents a vote on street improvements
• 4 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) set up, 2 more to come
• Northern Line extension gets the go ahead
• £12.5m spent on resurfacing roads and fixing pot holes
